[ Proclamation No. 87, March 9, 1987 ]

DECLARING EVERY LAST WEEK OF APRIL AS “MARITIME DEVELOPMENT WEEK”.

WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 2018, dated September 25, 1980, declared October 5 to 11, 1980, and every second week of October thereafter as “Maritime Development Week” to focus public attention on the vital role of the maritime industry as an indispensable pillar in our programs towards national economic development and recovery; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to change the date of week-long observance to the last week of April of every year;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare every last week of April as the Maritime Development Week under the joint auspices of the Chamber of Maritime Industries of the Philippines (CMIP) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA). Both the MARINA and the CMIP are hereby authorized to solicit the assistance and corporation of other relevant government agencies in the successful celebration of the Maritime Development Week.1aшphi1
