[ Proclamation No. 69, February 20, 1987 ]

AUTHORIZING THE ZARZUELA FOUNDATION OF THE PHILIPPINES, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONWIDE FUND CAMPAIGN FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR.

WHEREAS, the Zarzuela Foundation of the Philippines, in its program of preserving, developing and enriching the Filipino cultural heritage, in particular the Filipino zarzuela, with the end in view of contributing to the enhancement of the Administrations program of cultural development, has demonstrated during its existence since its founding in February 10, 1970, that it merits continued moral and financial support of the people;

WHEREAS, with its continuing research, production and presentation program of relevant and artistically meritorious cultural works in the performing arts, it has contributed to the elevation of artistic standard of Filipino music and performing arts, and has influenced more and more of our people to accept and appreciate Filipino music as part of our peoples search for identity and nationhood;

WHEREAS, under its “Outreach Program” its cultural projects are assistive of governments programs, such as the tourism program and Filipino manpower placement abroad program;

WHEREAS, the support of the arts is mandated in the Philippine Constitution;

WHEREAS, the periodic fund drives of the Zarzuela Foundation of the Philippines need to be continued, the better to give our people the opportunity to contribute to insure the continuity of its worthy cause; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Zarzuela Foundation of the Philippines, Inc., to conduct a fund campaign for a period of one year effective upon the promulgation of this proclamation.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
