[ Proclamation No. 159, September 24, 1987 ]

PROCLAIMING A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN THE PROVINCE OF BATANES WHICH WAS HIT BY SUPERTYPHOON “NENENG” ON SEPTEMBER 8-9, 1987.

WHEREAS, supertyphoon “Neneng” which hit the Province of Batanes on September 8-9, 1987 inflicted extensive damage to both public and private properties therein;

WHEREAS, a state of public calamity exists in the said province arising from the effects of the typhoon.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim a state of public calamity in the Province of Batanes.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and the directive and order issued in connection with calamities.
