DECLARING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1987, AS SERGIO OSMEÑA, SR. DAY, A NON-WORKING SPECIAL DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF CEBU AND THE CITIES OF CEBU, MANDAUE, LAPU-LAPU, DANAO AND TOLEDO

WHEREAS, Don Sergio Osmeña, Sr., President of the Philippine Commonwealth, during his career as a public servant espoused the cause of national unity, thus earning for himself the worthy appellation of “Apostle of National Unity”;

WHEREAS, this 9th of September is the 109th birth anniversary of this great Filipino;

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that those who desire to honor him be afforded the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Wednesday, September 9, 1987 as Sergio Osmeña, Sr. Day, a non-working special day in the province of Cebu, and in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Danao and Toledo.
