[ Proclamation No. 149, September 5, 1987 ]

DECLARING SEPTEMBER 1987 AS PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION MONTH

WHEREAS, the new government has emphasized redemocratization in all its programs;

WHEREAS, it is necessary to have wider discussions on issues and problems confronting public administration and the bureaucracy with regard to the redemocratization efforts of the country;

WHEREAS, there is need to instill awareness in the public service on the importance of good public administration to preserve the gains of the new democracy;

WHEREAS, the College of Public Administration, University of the Philippines, is celebrating its 35th Anniversary and will be sponsoring the Third National Conference on Public Administration from September 28 to 30, 1987; and

WHEREAS, in order to strengthen the professionalization of public administration in the Philippines, it is necessary to set aside a period for review and analysis of the state of the art.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare September 1987 as Public Administration Month.

I encourage all government officials concerned to participate in the various activities that will be held in celebration of Public Administration Month and in the Third National Conference on Public Administration.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
