[ Proclamation No. 138, August 11, 1987 ]

AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 80 DATED FEBRUARY 28, 1987, BY EXTENDING THE DEADLINE FOR THE FILING OF THE APPLICATIONS FOR AMNESTY UNDER SAID PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 80 dated February 28, 1987 was promulgated as a measure to unite our people and establish peace and order in our country by granting amnesty to political offenders under certain conditions;

WHEREAS, the period within which to file applications for amnesty in accordance with the said Proclamation will expire on August 28, 1987; and

WHEREAS, in view of the limited period within which to disseminate fully the details of the said Proclamation, especially in the remote areas of the country, many of those desirous of availing of the benefits of amnesty therein declared may not be able to file their applications on time;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby amend Proclamation No. 80 dated February 28, 1987 by extending the deadline for the filing of applications for amnesty under said proclamation up to and until February 29, 1988.

It is hereby further ordered that the guidelines promulgated by the National Reconciliation and Development Council, as well as other administrative orders, rules and regulations issued for the implementation of the aforesaid Proclamation shall continue to be in full force and effect, except as they may be inconsistent herewith, and, therefore, amended or modified accordingly.1aшphi1
