[ Proclamation No. 2469, December 3, 1985 ]

DECLARING THE 14TH OF DECEMBER 1985 AND EVERY YEAR HEREAFTER AS SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN SAN MIGUEL, BULACAN

WHEREAS, the 14th of December is the signing of the documents of the Truce of Biyak-na-bato between Pedro Paterno, representing the Filipino revolutionists and Spanish Governor General Primo de Rivera;

WHEREAS, the signing of the Truce marked the end of the first epoch of the Philippine Revolution, the first unified armed struggle of the Filipinos against a colonial master;

WHEREAS, it is but appropriate to commemorate the signing of the Truce of Biyak-na-bato because it was at Biyak-na-bato, San Miguel, Bulacan where the Biyak-na-bato Republic with its constitution was formed.1aшphi1 The Biyak-na-bato Republic represented the ideals and aspirations of the Filipino nation headed by General Emilio Aguinaldo;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the 14th of December 1985 and every year thereafter as non-working special public holiday in the Municipality of San Miguel, Province of Bulacan.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines, to be affixed.
