DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 26, 1985 TO MARCH 3, 1985 AS LA UNION FOUNDATION WEEK AND DECLARING MARCH 2, 1985 AS OFFICIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PROVINCE OF LA UNION

WHEREAS, the province of La Union will mark the 135th year of its existence as a province on March 2, 1985;

WHEREAS, the province of La Union, although a young province by historical reckoning, has already gained a significant recognition and has already greatly contributed towards national progress and development;

WHEREAS, ever since La Union was established as a province some 134 years ago, it has not celebrated its foundation day and the officialdom and the entire populace of the province have been anxiously awaiting for this memorable day;

WHEREAS, it is just but fitting and proper for the people and officials of the province to commemorate this important event in the history of La Union;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby declare the period from February 26, 1985 to March 3, 1985 as La Union Foundation Week and further declare March 2, 1985, Foundation Day, as Official Public Holiday throughout the entire Province of La Union.
