[ Proclamation No. 2357, May 10, 1984 ]

DECLARING MONDAY, MAY 14, 1984, AS NATIONWIDE NON-WORKING SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY.

WHEREAS, Sec. 5 (a), Art. VIII of the New Constitution provides that “The regular election of the Members of the Batasang Pambansa shall be held on the second Monday of May 1984 and every six years thereafter”;

WHEREAS, pursuant to Batas Pambansa Blg. 697 dated March 14, 1984, an election has been called on May 14, 1984, to choose the members of the Batasang Pambansa; and

WHEREAS, Monday, May 14, 1984 may be declared a non-working special public holiday to give all registered voters fullest opportunity to exercise their right of suffrage;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, May 14, 1984, as a nationwide non-working special public holiday.1aшphi1
