[ Proclamation No. 2353, April 26, 1984 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY, APRIL 27, 1984, AS “LAPU-LAPU CITY DAY” IN THE CITY OF LAPU-LAPU.

WHEREAS, April 27 of every year marks the anniversary of the approval by the late President Carlos P. Garcia of Republic Act No. 3134, converting the former municipality of Opon into a city, and of the subsequent promulgation of the charter of Lapu-Lapu City;

WHEREAS, this day also signifies a landmark in the Filipino people’s struggle to protect the nation from foreign aggressors; and

WHEREAS, the residents of Lapu-Lapu City desire to celebrate this milestone in their city’s history;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Friday, April 27, 1984 as “Lapu-Lapu City Day” in the City of Lapu-Lapu. It shall be, however, a regular working and school day.
