PROCLAMATION NO. 2302

FURTHER AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 1533-A BY RENAMING THE METROPOLITAN FILM FESTIVAL AND RESCHEDULING THE PERIOD THEREOF FROM DECEMBER 24-JANUARY 2 TO NOVEMBER 7-17, OF EACH YEAR.

WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 1533 was amended by Proclamation No. 1533-A so as to reschedule the period of the Metropolitan Film Festival from September 10-21, 1976 to December 24-January 2, 1977 and every year thereafter.

WHEREAS, the local officials of Metropolitan Manila, in consultation with the leaders of the local movie industry, have deemed it proper to further amend the above proclamations so that period of the Festival shall coincide with the anniversary celebration of the establishment of the integrated management of the 13 towns and 4 cities comprising the Metropolitan Manila Area;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution do hereby amend Proclamation No. 1533-A as follows:

1. The Metropolitan Film Festival shall henceforth be known as Metro Manila Film Festival; and

2. The period of the Festival which was previously rescheduled to December 24-January 2 shall be changed to November 7-17, of each year.

I hereby urge all citizens of the Metro Manila Area as well as all its local officials and movie organizations to celebrate the Festival appropriately to encourage Filipinos to appreciate the Filipino cinema and make it form part of their cultural life. As such, all films to be shown during the Festival must center on themes depicting the history, culture, traditions and struggles of the Filipino nation and its people.⚖ - ℒαɯρhi৷
