PROCLAMATION NO. 2299

DECLARING THE LAST WEEK OF JULY OF EVERY YEAR AS “PHILIPPINE CHAMBER OF HANDICRAFT INDUSTRIES WEEK”

WHEREAS, the Philippine Chamber of Handicraft Industries, Inc. (PCHI) is an association of producers, dealers, retailers and exporters of handicrafts, conscientiously dedicated to the development and advancement of the handicraft industry;

WHEREAS, the PCHI has been an active ally of the industry, consistently laboring to expand the areas of production and to introduce and recommend better or more modern production technology, thus, creating a wide and enormous field of employment opportunities among our people in the countryside;

WHEREAS, the PCHI has been exerting all efforts to discover, develop and expand foreign markets for Philippine handicrafts so that the latter have become among the top exports and foreign exchange earners of the country;

WHEREAS, the PCHI has been extensively working and closely cooperating with the different agencies of the government as well as the private entities in championing the cause of the handicraft industry; and

WHEREAS, the PCHI endeavors to provide a direct link to the small producers in the different regions of the country to help them market their products abroad;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the last week of July of this year and every year thereafter as “Philippine Chamber of Handicraft Industries (PCHI) Week”.

I call upon all sectors of society to extend every possible assistance and support to the organization so that the local handicraft industry may experience greater development and find a distinguished place in the world market.⚖ - ℒαɯρhi৷

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
