PROCLAMATION NO. 2257

SETTING THE DATE FOR THE HOLDING OF A PLEBISCITE TO DECIDE THE CREATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF HINGYON IN THE PROVINCE OF IFUGAO.

WHEREAS, Batas Pambansa Blg. 239, approved on September 10, 1982, provides for the creation of the Municipality of Hingyon, Ifugao Province, out of the barangays of Anao, Bangtinon, Bitu, Hingyon, Mompolia, Namulditan, Piwong and Umalbong, all in the Municipality of Lagawe, and the barangays of O-ong, Cababuyan and Ubuag, all in the municipality of Banawe, Province of Ifugao;

WHEREAS, the aforesaid legislative measure also provides that a plebiscite shall be conducted in the areas affected within one hundred and twenty days from the date of the final approval of the said Act by the President of the Philippines, to determine whether the barangays specified therein shall become a new municipality to be known as the Municipality of Hingyon;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law and pursuant to Batas Pambansa Blg. 239 do hereby direct the following:

(1) On January 28, 1983, a plebiscite shall be held in the barangays of Anao, Bangtinon, Bitu, Hingyon, Mompolia, Namulditan, Piwong and Umalbong, all in the Municipality of Lagawe, and the barangays of O-ong, Cababuyan and Ubuag, all in the Municipality of Banawe, Province of Ifugao, to determine whether the said barangays shall become a new municipality to be known as the Municipality of Hingyon, Province of Ifugao;

(2) The Commission on Elections shall supervise the conduct of the aforesaid plebiscite and shall promulgate the rules and regulations to implement this proclamation.⚖ - ℒαɯρhi৷
