PROCLAMATION NO. 2231

DECLARING SEPTEMBER 20 AND 21, 1982, AS SPECIAL WORKING PUBLIC HOLIDAY WITH CLASSES SUSPENDED IN ALL LEVELS IN THE ENTIRE ARCHIPELAGO.

WHEREAS, September 20, 1982, falls on a Monday, preceding September 21, which is a nationwide special holiday pursuant to Letter of Instructions No. 1087 dated November 26, 1980;

WHEREAS, the pupils, students and teachers desire to join their countrymen in the nationwide and historic celebration of Thanksgiving Day on September 21, 1982 while the working men in the private sector and government employees would like to report for work as an expression of gratitude for the tremendous achievements and progress of the country and welfare of our people commencing on September 21, 1972;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare September 20 and 21, 1982, as special working public holiday throughout the country with classes suspended in all levels.
