PROCLAMATION NO. 2224

DECLARING THE TWENTY-THIRD OF JULY NINETEEN HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-TWO AS “MABINI DAY” AND A SPECIAL NON-WORKING PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR THE PROVINCE OF BATANGAS AND THE CITIES EMBRACED THEREIN.

WHEREAS, Friday, July 23, 1982, marks the 118th birthday of Apolinario Mabini, popularly known as the “Sublime Paralytic” whose ideals and principles in life are now the nation’s treasured legacy; and

WHEREAS, the people of Batangas, his birthplace, desire to celebrate his natal day with fitting ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the twenty-third day of July 1982 as “Mabini Day” and a special non-working public holiday in the Province of Batangas and the cities therein.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 17th day of July in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-two.
