PROCLAMATION NO. 2220

DECLARING JULY 4 TO 11, 1982 AS NATIONAL FOLK ARTS CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK.

WHEREAS, the preservation and propagation of Philippine arts and cultural, particularly our folk traditions, rites and rituals, is one of the declared policies of the government;

WHEREAS, the advent of the New Society ushered in a renaissance of folk arts bringing with it a resurgence of national pride in our rich cultural heritage;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that we give Philippine folk arts the prominence it richly deserves;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from July 4 to 11 of every year as National Folk Arts Consciousness Week under the auspices of the Folk Arts Theater.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
