PROCLAMATION NO. 2158

ESTABLISHING AS PHOSPHATE MINING RESERVATION ALL THE PHOSPHATE DEPOSITS AND PHOSPHATE-BEARING LANDS IN THE ISLAND OF LEYTE, BILIRAN, SUBPROVINCE OF LEYTE AND THE CAMOTES ISLANDS OF CEBU, PHILIPPINES.

WHEREAS, the National Development Company is presently conducting extensive studies of the prospective phosphate deposits in the Island of Leyte and such other places, for the purpose of determining the extent of phosphate reserves;

WHEREAS, the National Development Company has determined that significant phosphate deposits are found within the Island of Leyte;

WHEREAS, the National Development Company is presently constructing a phosphatic fertilizer plant; and

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the State that the said phosphate deposits and phosphate-bearing lands be reserved for industrial and commercial uses;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare, order and direct the following:

Section 1. It is hereby established and set apart, subject to valid existing private rights which the Government may acquire by negotiation, as reservation under the administration of the National Development Company, for the purpose of exploring, developing, exploiting, and utilizing the phosphate deposits found therein, such parcels of land in the Island of Leyte, Biliran, Subprovince of Leyte and the Camotes Islands of Cebu, Philippines.

Section 2. The Bureau of Mines is hereby instructed to provide full assistance to the National Development Company in implementation of this proclamation as an exception of LOI 962.

Section 3. This proclamation shall take effect immediately.ℒαwρhi৷
