PROCLAMATION NO. 2154

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 25 TO 31, 1982 AS NATIONAL PHYSICAL FITNESS WEEK THROUGH RUNNING.

WHEREAS, the development of a physically fit, healthy and alert citizenry is one of the major thrusts in our New Republic;

WHEREAS, the First Manila International Marathon on January 31 which will be participated in by top world marathon runners and by representatives from the country’s thirteen regions demonstrates that Running as a sports activity is an effective medium in attaining physical fitness;

WHEREAS, in line with this laudable objective and to create a national awareness of Running as a wholesome and delightful sports activity, besides being inexpensive and within the reach of everyone;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution do hereby declare the period from January 25 to 31, 1982 as National Physical Fitness Week through Running.ℒαwρhi৷

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
