PROCLAMATION NO. 2103
DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 1, 1981 TO MAY 31, 1982 FOR THE ANNUAL EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE UNITED WAY PHILIPPINES, INC., (FORMERLY THE COMMUNITY CHESTS AND COUNCILS OF THE PHILIPPINES, INC.).
WHEREAS, the United Way Philippines, Inc. (formerly Community Chests and Councils of the Philippines, Inc.) is actively engaged for several years now in the funding of community health and welfare services, as well as in the promotion of the economic well-being of the people in the different parts of the country;
WHEREAS, in the promotion of such economic well-being, units of the Barangay Rural Improvement Corps (BRIC) have been organized in almost all of the provinces, cities and municipalities of the Philippines;
WHEREAS, the unique operation of the BRICs in the Philippines has attracted the holding of the 5th International Conference on United Fund Raising in Manila on May 6-10, 1979, attended by delegates from several nations, which elected the UWPI president as the International president, an honor given to the Philippines for the first time, and now will require adequate and continued support for this particular program of assistance for the needy, now accepted as a model for other countries;
WHEREAS, such program of rural development is supportive to the objectives of the “New Society” and the pledge to fully develop the barangays and strengthen the common man;
WHEREAS, the United Way Philippines, Inc. unites into one annual appeal the campaign for effective public assistance to the health and welfare needs of the more needy among our citizens;
WHEREAS, the Organization was authorized under Proclamation No. 1978 dated April 19, 1980 to conduct an educational and fund campaign; and
WHEREAS, it is desired that the humanitarian objectives of the United Way Philippines, Inc. be fully attained;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby designate the period from June 1, 1981 to May 31, 1982 for the annual educational and fund campaign of the United Way Philippines, Inc. and all United Way organizations in the Philippines and the holding of special events thereafter under the auspices and supervision of the United Way Philippines, Inc.
I hereby call upon all residents of the Philippines of whatever race or creed to fully support the campaigns of the United Ways in the Philippines by giving generously of their means and volunteer efforts to this one annual appeal campaign for the promotion of the health welfare and economic well being of our less fortunate and under privileged countrymen, in their respective areas of operation.ᇈWᑭHIL
