PROCLAMATION NO. 2075

DECLARING THURSDAY, APRIL 9, 1981 AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF BATAAN.

WHEREAS, Thursday, April 9, 1981 marks the anniversary of the Fall of Bataan, the last bulwark of freedom in the Far East during the last World War;

WHEREAS, the Fall of Bataan is now celebrated nationwide as Araw ng Kagitingan on the Sixth of May of every year together with the Fall of Corregidor and Besang Pass Day pursuant to Letter of Instructions No. 1087;

WHEREAS, the people of Bataan desire to celebrate Bataan Day on April 9, 1981 as a fitting tribute to the soldiers who shed their blood in the battlefields in defense of freedom and democracy;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Thursday, April 9, 1981 as a special public holiday in the Province of Bataan, but the day shall be a regular working and school day.ᇈWᑭHIL

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
