PROCLAMATION NO. 2066

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE CANCER SOCIETY, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL, MEMBERSHIP AND FUND DRIVE DURING THE PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 1, 1981 TO FEBRUARY 28, 1982.

WHEREAS, the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., the lone socio-medical organization committed to the prevention and control of cancer, envisions the extension of its free medical services through its Cancer Division in the provinces, the establishment of Theraphy Centers in medical centers for cancer patients, the intensification of its educational campaign for cancer awareness, and the maintenance of its Cancer Detection and Diagnosis Center;

WHEREAS, statistics gathered by the Society from various local clinics and hospitals shows that the prevalence of cancer is increasing every year; and

WHEREAS, in order to carry out these expanded services of the Society, it needs the continued support and cooperation of the public;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., to conduct a national educational, membership and fund drive during the period from February 1, 1981 to February 28, 1982.

I call upon all the citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality, race or creed, to assist in this humanitarian endeavor by giving generously of their means and reiterate that all donations or contributions given to this charitable cause shall be exempt from income and gift taxes as provided by Presidential Decree No. 507.ᇈWᑭHIL
