PROCLAMATION NO. 2032

SETTING THE DATE FOR HOLDING OF A PLEBISCITE TO DECIDE THE CREATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF LOPE DE VEGA, NORTHERN SAMAR.

WHEREAS, Batas Pambansa Bilang 69, approved on May 1, 1980, provides for the creation of the Municipality of Lope de Vega, Province of Northern Samar, out of the barangays of Bayho, Bonifacio, Cag-Amesarag, Cagaguingan, Curry, Gen. Luna, Getigo, Genaronagan, Hibonawan, Lope de Vega, Lower Caynaga, Mahipid, Magsaysay Osmeņa, Paguete, Roxas, Sampaguita, San Francisco, San Miguel, San Jose, Somoroy and Upper Caynaga, all in the Municipality of Catarman, Province of Northern Samar;

WHEREAS, the aforesaid law also provides that a plebiscite shall be held in the areas affected to determine whether the barangays specified therein shall become a new municipality to be known, as the Municipality of Lope de Vega, Province of Northern Samar;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law and pursuant to Batas Pambansa Bilang 69, do hereby declare that:

(1) On December 2, 1980, a plebiscite shall be held in the Barangays of Bayho, Bonifacio, Cag-Amesarag, Cagaguingan, Curry, Gen. Luna, Getigo, Genaronagan, Hibonawan, Lope de Vega, Lower Caynaga, Mahipid, Magsaysay, Osmeņa, Paguete, Roxas, Sampaguita, San Francisco, San Miguel, San Jose, Somoroy and Upper Caynaga, all in the Municipality of Catarman, Province of Northern Samar, to determine whether the said barangays shall become a new municipality to be known as the Municipality of Lope de Vega, Province of Northern Samar.ℒαwρhi৷

(2) The Commission on Elections shall supervise the conduct of the aforesaid plebiscite and shall promulgate the rules and regulations necessary to implement this proclamation.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
