PROCLAMATION NO. 2009

DECLARING MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 1980, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN COMMEMORATION OF THE EIGHTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NEW SOCIETY WHICH FALLS ON A SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1980.

WHEREAS, the eighth anniversary of the New Society which ushered in an era of peace and prosperity in the country, falls on a Sunday, September 21, 1980; and

WHEREAS, there is a need for the fullest participation by all citizens in the celebration of this milestone in our country’s history and that, in pursuance thereof the official celebration be held on September 22, 1980; instead of on September 21, 1980;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, September 22, 1980, as a special public holiday for the celebration of the eighth anniversary of the New Society.ℒαwρhi৷

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
