PROCLAMATION NO. 1964
DECLARING MAY 6, 1980, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY
WHEREAS, under Proclamation No. 1960 dated April 7, 1980, May 6, 1980 was declared "Araw ng Kagitingan" consolidating on said date the celebration of the Fall of Bataan, Fall of Corregidor and Battle of Bessang Pass; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to give the people ample opportunity to celebrate these events and ponder on the patriotism and sacrifices of those who have given their lives that freedom and democracy may flourish in this country;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Tuesday, May 6, 1980, as a special public holiday.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
