PROCLAMATION NO. 1963

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM THURSDAY, MAY 1 TO WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 1980, AS PAG-I.B.I.G. WEEK

WHEREAS, the government has launched the PAG-I.B.I.G. program to enable workers to systematically save for their own housing requirements through the Mutual Home Development Fund managed by the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation;

WHEREAS, significant outputs of this program show in concrete terms what the New Society’s concern for the common man means by the housing and saving programs engendered by PAG-I.B.I.G.;

WHEREAS, to further heighten public awareness and participation in the program by the workers of the country, particularly the government employees, who under LOI 937 are encouraged to join PAG-I.B.I.G., it is desirable that a set of activities within a defined time span be set aside and designated to showcase the first outputs of the program; and

WHEREAS, a fitting time for launching this set of activities is during the Labor Day celebrations as the PAG-I.B.I.G. Program is primarily designated to assist fixed-salaries workers afford homes they could call their own;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from Thursday, May 1 to Wednesday, May 7, 1980, as PAG-I.B.I.G. Week.
