PROCLAMATION NO. 1944

DECLARING FRIDAY, 8 FEBRUARY 1980, AS SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN LIPA CITY.

WHEREAS, Friday, 8 February 1980, marks the 90th birth anniversary of the late Senator, Don Claro M. Recto, the great nationalist and one of the foremost leaders and statesman the country ever produced;

WHEREAS, the ideas of Don Claro M. Recto remain relevant and vital to the country's pursuit and aspirations under the New Society;

WHEREAS, in recognition of the outstanding achievements of the late Don Claro M. Recto, the residents of Lipa City desire to celebrate his birthday with fitting ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Friday, 8 February 1980, as a special public holiday in Lipa City.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 7th day of February, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty.
