DECLARING SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1978, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 100TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF DON SERGIO OSMEÑA, SR.
WHEREAS, Don Sergio Osmeña, Sr. former President of the Philippine Commonwealth, was one of the principal architects or our Republic and a great Filipino who deserves to be honored, remembered and emulated by the nation;
WHEREAS, throughout his public career, he had always espoused the caused of national unity, thus earning for himself the distinct honor of being called the Apostle of Unity; and
WHEREAS, his life and works find relevance to the aims, goals and objectives of the New Society;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President and Prime Minister of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Saturday, September 9, 1978, as a special public holiday in commemoration of the 100th birth anniversary of Don Sergio Osmeña, Sr.
