MALACAÑANG Manila BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES Proclamation No. 137 DECLARING FRIDAY, AUGUST 19, 1949, A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN QUEZON PROVINCE AND QUEZON CITY. WHEREAS, the seventy-first anniversary of the birth of the late President Manuel L. Quezon falls on August 19, 1949; and WHEREAS, the people of Quezon Province and Quezon City desire to be afforded a special opportunity to celebrate his birthday anniversary with a view to giving a tangible expression of their gratitude for his patriotic services to the cause of Philippine freedom; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by section 30 of the Revised Administrative Code, do hereby declare Friday, August 19, 1949, as a special public holiday in Quezon Province and Quezon City. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed. Done in the City of Manila, this 5th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the fourth.
