Proclamation No. 479
DECLARING WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 1939, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY
Whereas the Commonwealth of the Philippines was proclaimed and inaugurated on November fifteenth, nineteen hundred and thirty-five; and
Whereas that event constitutes one of the most important landmarks in the history of our struggle for independent existence;
Now, therefore, I, Manuel L. Quezon, President of the Philippines, pursuant to the provision of section thirty of the Revised Administrative Code, do hereby declare Wednesday, November fifteenth, nineteen hundred and thirty-nine, as a special public holiday in commemoration of that historic event.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Commonwealth of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done at the City of Manila, this third day of November, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and thirty-nine, and of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, the fourth.
