[ MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 23, May 08, 2018 ]

RENEWING THE TRAVEL TAX EXEMPTION POLICY TO TRAVELLERS DEPARTING FROM ALL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS AND SEAPORTS IN MINDANAO AND PALAWAN TO ANY DESTINATION IN THE BRUNEI DARUSSALAM-INDONESIA-MALAYSIA-PHILIPP1NES - EAST ASEAN GROWTH AREA (BIMP-EAGA)

For reasons of national interest and in order to sustain and accelerate economic development in Mindanao and Palawan, and as recommended by the House of Representatives pursuant to House Resolution No. 78 dated 06 December 2017, the exemption from payment of travel tax for all travellers by air and/or sea from all international airports and/or seaports in Mindanao and Palawan to any destination in the Brunei Darussaiam-lndonesia-Malaysia-Philippines - East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) is hereby renewed.

The Travel Tax Exemption shall be granted for a period of five (5) years from the effectivity of this Order.£A⩊phi£ A Travel Tax Exemption Certificate may be secured from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.

The National Economic and Development Authority, in coordination with all relevant government agencies, is hereby directed to conduct an impact study on the implementation of this Order and submit an annual report to the Office of the President for the purpose of determining whether the exemption shall be continued or revoked.

This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
