[ MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 18, January 22, 2018 ]
CONCURRENCE OF THE PRESIDENT IN THE DEPUTATION OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES, THE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL POLICE AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND INSTRUMENTALITIES OF THE GOVERNMENT FOR THE 05 JANUARY 2018 PLEBISCITE TO RATIFY THE DIVISION OF VARIOUS BARANGAYS IN THE CITY OF NAVOTAS
WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), through its Resolution No. 10235 (s. 2017), resolved to request the concurrence of the President in the deputation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of the Government in connection with the 05 January 2018 plebiscite to ratify the following:
1. Division of Barangay North bay Boulevard South (NBBS), City of Navotas into three (3) distinct and independent barangays to be known as Barangay NBBS Proper, NBBS Kaunlaran and NBBS Dagat-Dagatan;
2. Division of barangay tangos, City of navotas into two (2) distinct and independent barangays to be known as barangays Tangos North and tangos south; and
3. Division of Brangay Tanza, City of Navotas into two (2) distinct and independent barangays to be known as Barangays Tanza 1 and Tanza 2.£A⩊phi£
WHEREAS, Republic Act (RA) No. 10933 provides for the division of the Barangay NBBS in the City of Navotas;
WHEREAS, RA No. 10934 provides for the division of Barangay Tangos in the City of Navotas;
WHEREAS, RA No. 10935 provides for the division of Barangay tanza in the City of Navotas; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2 (4), Article IX-C of the Constitution, the COMELEC is empowered to deputize, with the concurrence of the President, law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of the Government, including the AFP, for the exclusive purpose of ensuring free, orderly, honest, peaceful, and credible elections.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, hereby concur with COMELEC Resolution No. 10235, deputizing the AFP, the PNP and other law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of the Government, in connection with the 05 January 2018 plebiscite to ratify the division of various barangays in the City of Navotas.
The foregoing law enforcement agencies and other concerned agencies are hereby directed to coordinate and cooperate with the COMELEC in the performance of their duties and functions.
This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
