[ Memorandum Order No. 275, March 27, 1995 ]

EXTENDING THE OPERATIONS OF TASK FORCE “LILY” TO MONITOR THE CURRENT CONCERNS ABOUT OVERSEAS/MIGRANT WORKERS AND OTHER ISSUES

WHEREAS, Task Force “Lily” was earlier constituted to oversee the successful implementation of Republic Act No. 7716, otherwise known as the expanded VAT Law and the issue on the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT);

WHEREAS, the present plight of overseas contract workers (OCWs) needs to be addressed to protect their interests considering their role in nation building;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law hereby extend the operations of Task Force “Lily”;

Section 1. The Task Force shall be headed by the Executive Secretary, thru the Senior Deputy Executive Secretary, with the support of all concerned government agencies.

Section 2. The Task Force thru the Command Operations Center (COC) shall continue its mandate to oversee and monitor the current concerns and social issues, as well as the plight of overseas contract workers;

Section 3. It is further tasked to report and project positive actions taken by all concerned agencies, including LGUs and other civic and religious organizations.1aшphi1

Section 4. This Memorandum Order takes effect immediately.

Done in the City of Manila, this 27th day of March, in year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and ninety five.
