AUTHORIZING THE NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE AND STATE-OF-THE-ART TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES TO SUPPORT THE LEYTE LANDING CELEBRATIONS (15 SEPTEMBER 1994 TO 31 OCTOBER 1994)
WHEREAS, the Philippines shall commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the historic Leyte landing in Palo, Leyte on 20 October 1994, which shall be attended by Heads of States, world dignitaries, and important local and international personalities;
WHEREAS, the occasion shall be highlighted by significant events of local and international interest which will be vital in projecting the Philippines to the rest of the world;
WHEREAS, adequate, state-of-the-art, and efficient telecommunication facilities for both domestic and international telecommunications services is imperative and vital to the success of the occasion.1aшphi1
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law and the Constitution, do hereby order:
Section 1. All telecommunications carriers presently operating may be authorized by the National Telecommunications Commission to establish, install, operate, and maintain domestic and international telecommunications services of all types and classification, as may be necessary to ensure adequate, state-of-the-art, and efficient service for the period 15 September 1994 to 31 October 1994.
Section 2. All concerned entities are hereby enjoined to cooperate and coordinate their activities with the National Telecommunications Commission to ensure the establishment of the necessary telecommunications infrastructure to support the Leyte Landing celebrations.
Section 3. This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
