MODIFYING THE RANKING STRUCTURE AND SALARY SCHEDULE IN THE CAREER EXECUTIVE SERVICE (CES)
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 1, series of 1972, the Career Executive Service (CES) members shall be classified according to rank based on broad levels of responsibility and on personal qualifications and demonstrated competence, and that salary and status shall be based on rank, not on the position occupied at any given time;
WHEREAS, the Career Executive Service Board, pursuant to the authority granted to it under Presidential Decree No. 1, series of 1972, recommend the modification of the CES ranking structure to align it with the salary grades prescribed under Republic Act No. 6758, series of 1989;
WHEREAS, Presidential Decree No. 1, series of 1972, provides that the CES ranking structure shall be approved by the President of the Philippines;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order:
Section 1. The ranking structure and salary schedule in the Career Executive Service (CES) are hereby modified to read as follows:

Section 2. The Career Executive Service Board shall establish the mechanics for the classification of members of the CES in accordance with the above ranking structure and shall issue the corresponding rules and regulations.
Section 3. All issuances, rules and regulations or parts thereof inconsistent with the provisions of this Memorandum Order are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
