MALACAÑAN PALACE MANILA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES [ Memorandum Order No. 188, August 16, 1988 ] DELEGATING TO THE SECRETARY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT THE POWER TO APPOINT CERTAIN ELECTIVE LOCAL OFFICIALS UNDER SECTIONS 42(2) AND 50 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE, AS AMENDED. Pursuant to the power vested in me by the Constitution and by law, I hereby delegate to the Secretary of Local Government the power to appoint qualified persons to fill permanent vacancies in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Sangguniang Panlungsod, Sangguniang Bayan or Sangguniang Barangay, pursuant to the provisions of Sections 42(2) and 50 of Batas Pambansa Blg. 337, as amended, otherwise known as the Local Government Code. Any provision of Memorandum Orders, rules or regulations contrary to or inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed, revised or amended accordingly. 1aшphi1 This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
