[ Memorandum Circular No. 1267, November 7, 1983 ]

REPEALING MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 1157

WHEREAS, the objective of Memorandum Circular 1157 was to assist the Philippine Education Company, Inc. (PECO) during its period of financial distress;

WHEREAS, it is deemed that sufficient assistance has been provided the PECO since the implementation of Memorandum Circular 1157;

WHEREAS, in the light of economic realities and in order that the legitimate publishing companies in the country may operate under a healthier atmosphere of competition;

WHEREAS, there is a need to facilitate the acquisition at a minimum cost of foreign technical books and periodicals vital to the enhancement of the operations of concerned agencies;

THEREFORE, Memorandum Circular No. 1157 “Requiring that the Purchase of Foreign Books and Subscription to Foreign Magazines and Other Foreign Publications by all Ministries, Agencies, Offices, and Instrumentalities of the Government, Including Government-Owned or Controlled Corporations and Local Governments be made Through the Philippine Education Company, Inc. (PECO)” dated 24th of August 1979 is hereby repealed.

This Memorandum Circular shall take effect immediately.1aшphi1
