ENJOINING LOCAL OFFICIALS TO ENCOURAGE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CONSUMERS COOPERATIVE IN THEIR JURISDICTIONS.

The establishment of consumers cooperatives in cities and municipalities. throughout the country is imperative in order to do away with some of the factors that contribute to the rising of prices of prime commodities.

The present-day economic realities urgently call or an organized distribution of foodstuffs and other essential consumer goods, whereby the consumers, banded into cooperatives, directly receive these goods from the producers.

In view thereof, all provincial, city and municipal officials are hereby enjoined to encourage the establishment of consumers cooperatives in their jurisdictions and, towards this end, to provide their constituents with all possible assistance and guidance. In furtherance hereof, they are authorized to attend, together with a number of selected employees under then, cooperative meetings, workshops and seminars organized or sponsored by the Cooperatives Administration Office, with reasonable expenses chargeable against funds of their respective offices, subject to the availability thereof and the usual accounting and auditing requirements.
