CREATING A COMMITTEE TO UNDERTAKE A STUDY OF INCREASING THE PRODUCTIVE OUTPUT OF THE NATIONAL SHIPYARDS AND STEEL CORPORATION AND TO COORDINATE WITH THE FREE TRADE ZONE AUTHORITY ON DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL TO BOTH.

The demands for ship repair and construction by various domestic and foreign shipping and naval activities have given rise to the need of re-structuring, improving, and expanding the operation of the National Shipyards and Steel Corporation (NASSCO). Since NASSCO is located within the area of the newly-created Free Trade Zone Authority (FTZA), it becomes necessary that developmental projects to be coordinated and integrated to avoid duplication of efforts and waste of government funds. For this purpose, a Committee is hereby created to study the organization, administration, operation, existing facilities and industrial potential capabilities of NASSCO and submit recommendations to increase production output thereof. In addition, the Committee shall study the developmental projects of NASSCO and the FTZA with the aim of coordinating and integrating projects that are mutually beneficial to both.

The Committee shall be composed of the following:

The authority may call for assistance from any Department, Bureau, Office, agency of instrumentality of the government, including government-controlled or owned corporations in the performance of its functions. It may avail of any previous reports or studies on or relevant to NASSCO and the FTZA to facilitate the work.

The Committee shall submit its report and recommendations within one month (30days).
