URGING ATTENDANCE IN THE FIRST NATIONAL MARINE ANIMAL TAXONOMY WORKSHOP

The National Committee on Marine Sciences, with financial assistance from the National Science Development Board, UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines, and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, UNESCO Paris, will hold the First National Marine Animal Taxonomy Workshop at the Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Hall, Herran, Manila, on board the ship M/V Pampano of the College of Fisheries, U.P., and at the U.P. Marine Biological Station, Puerto Galera, Mindoro Oriental from May 19, 1969 to June 7, 1969.

The Workshop aims at (1) evaluating the actual knowledge on the non-planktonic marine fauna of the Philippines and determining the program for the reference collection museum in regard to existing personnel, equipment, logistics, etc; (2) training Zoologists for taxonomies work in the reference collection museum of the agency or agencies associated to its program.

National and local offices, including government owned or controlled corporations, which have been invited by the sponsoring agencies, are hereby authorized to participate in the workshop. The attendance of their participants shall be on official time with expenses for transportation, subsistence, lodging, all chargeable against the appropriations of their respective offices, subject to the availability of funds and the usual accounting and auditing requirements. It is understood that no government expenses shall be incurred with respect to those from the private sector.

The participants shall submit to their respective agency heads a report on their attendance and .anticipation in the Workshop.1âшphi1
