EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 640 January 5, 1981
AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 613 ENTITLED "TRANSFERRING THE PHILIPPINE ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION TO THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT"
WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 613 transferred the Philippine Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) from the Ministry of Energy to the Office of the President in order to insure objectivity and effectiveness in the exercise of its regulatory and licensing functions with respect to the Philippine Nuclear Power Plant-1;
WHEREAS, there is a need to maintain its personnel and to attract qualified technical, scientific and professional personnel in order to discharge more effectively its function and duty of safeguarding public health and safety; and
WHEREAS, under existing laws the PAEC personnel are granted allowances.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and the authority vested in me by Presidential Decree No. 1416, do hereby order and ordain;
Sec. 1. Section 1 of Executive Order No. 613 is hereby amended by the addition of the following:
The Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and other personnel of the Commission shall be entitled or shall continue to receive such salaries, remunerations and allowances as are in force under existing laws, decrees and Presidential authorizations, including those provided under Presidential Decree Nos. 1571 and 1573. Any change in these rates shall be approved pursuant to PD No. 985.
Sec. 2. All laws, decrees, other issuances, and rules and regulations inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.
Sec. 3. This Executive Order shall take effect immediately.
