DECLARING THE “CASA REAL” AT MALOLOS, BULACAN, A NATIONAL SHRINE.
WHEREAS, the four centuries’ old “Casa Real” in Paseo del Congreso, Plaza Rizal, Malolos, Bulacan, is a historical edifice, having housed the first printing press of the First Philippine Republic which published the revolutionary organs Kalayaan and La Independencia and which was the seat of government of the town of Malolos during the early American regime; and
WHEREAS, this cultural heritage of our nation’s past should be preserved for posterity;
NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the powers vested in me, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL; President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the “Casa Real” at Malolos, Bulacan, a National Shrine and assign it under the care and custody of the National Museum for its protection and preservation.
