[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 655, December 18, 1953 ]
ABOLISHING THE PEACE FUND CAMPAIGN COMMISSION AND TRANSFERRING THE UNEXPENDED BALANCE OF THE PEACE FUND TO THE DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENSE.
WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 845, dated September 19, 1950, creating the Peace Fund Campaign Commission, was promulgated for the purpose of raising from voluntary contributions additional funds needed for the maintenance of peace and order; and
WHEREAS, whatever remains to be done for the maintenance of peace and order may now be financed with government funds raised from taxation;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ELPIDIO QUIRINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order:
Section 1. The Peace Fund Campaign Commission created in Executive Order No. 345 dated September 19, 1950, as amended by Executive Order No. 477 dated October 12, 1951, is hereby abolished.
Section 2. The unexpended balance of the Peace Fund and all the records, properties, and equipment of the Peace Fund Campaign Commission are hereby transferred to the Department of National Defense, the said unexpended balance to be considered as a trust fund and spent for any of the purposes stated in Executive Order No. 345 as amended by Executive Order No. 477.
Section 3. This Order shall take effect on December 30, 1953.1a⍵⍴h!1
