[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 535, October 10, 1952 ]
ABOLISHING VISA FEES IN THE CASE OF ALIENS COMING TO THE PHILIPPINES AS NON-IMMIGRANTS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS.
In accordance with the policy of the Government to promote the tourist industry and to encourage the entry of visitors to the forthcoming International Fair in Manila, I, ELPIDIO QUIRINO, President of the Philippines, pursuant to the powers vested in me by section 47(a) (4) of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, as amended, do hereby abolish the visa fees in the .case of aliens coming to the Philippines as non-immigrants subject to following conditions:
1. That the countries of which such aliens. Are citizens or subjects shall accord the same concession to Philippine citizens of a similar class visiting such countries;
2. That the purpose of such aliens in coming to the Philippines shall be for business or for pleasure or both;
3. That such aliens shall not remain in the Philippines for a period exceeding 59 days.
To carry out the provisions of this Executive Order, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs is hereby authorized to enter into agreements, by exchange of notes, with the authorized representatives of countries which are willing to grant the same concession to Philippine citizens desiring to visit such countries for a temporary period of stay.
This Order shall take effect immediately.
