[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 517, July 07, 1952 ]

WHEREAS, the Rizal House in Calamba, Laguna, has already been restored in accordance with Executive Order No. 145 dated June 19, 1948, as amended by Executive Order No. 190 dated December 16, 1948;

WHEREAS, of the amount needed to finance the complete restoration of the Rizal Home in Laguna and the Rizal Park in Dapitan, Zamboanga, only the amount of P188,232.50 has so far been collected from public and private school pupils and students;

WHEREAS, after the restoration of the Rizal House in Calamba, Laguna, which entailed an expense of P107, – 153.33 excluding furniture, the balance left is only P77,492.63; and

WHEREAS, the amount is insufficient to complete the restoration of both the Home in Calamba, Laguna, and the Park in Dapitan, Zombaanga;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ELPIDIO QUIRINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby extend the collection of funds authorized under Executive Order No. 145, dated June 19, 1948, as amended by Executive Order No. 190, dated December 16, 1948, until such time as a sufficient amount has been collected to complete this restoration.

I hereby authorize the Department of Education to take charge of the administration of both the Rizal Home in Laguna and the Dapitan Park in Zamboanga and to include in its annual budget an adequate appropriation for the maintenance of these national shrines.
