[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 179, December 31, 1938 ]
DESIGNATING A CHIEF OF STAFF UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF COMMONWEALTH ACT NO. 312
Under the authority contained in section twenty-two of Commonwealth Act Numbered One, known as “The National Defense Act,” as amended by Commonwealth Act Numbered Three hundred twelve, the following changes in the General Staff Corps in the Army of the Philippines are hereby announced:
(a) Major General Paulino Santos, Regular Force, is hereby relieved as Chief of Staff at the close of the day on December thirty-first, nineteen hundred thirty-eight, and will be retired from active service as of the same date.1âшphi1
(b) Major General Basilio J. Valdes, Regular Force, Deputy Chief of Staff, is hereby designated Chief of Staff Vice Major General Paulino Santos, and will assume the duties prescribed for that Office in the National Defense Act and in pertinent executive orders, effective January first, nineteen hundred and thirty-nine.
Done at the City of Manila, this thirty-first day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and thirty-eight, and of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, the fourth.
