RESOLUTION No. 6248

IN THE MATTER OF THE RESUMPTION OF THE REGISTRATION OF VOTERS AND THE MEETINGS OF THE ELECTION REGISTRATION BOARDS; AND THE CONDUCT OF GENERAL REGISTRATION IN THE AUTONOMOUS REGION IN MUSLIM MINDANAO

Promulgated: 10 July 2003

WHEREAS, COMELEC Resolution No. 5912 promulgated 15 January 2003 temporarily suspended, until further orders from the Commission, the:

(1) filing of applications for registration of voters and transfer of registration records; and

(2) the processing of pending applications for registration of voters and transfer of registration records;

WHEREAS, COMELEC Resolution No. 5912 likewise, temporarily suspended the quarterly meetings of the Election Registration Boards, including the January 20, 2003 meeting, until further notice;

WHEREAS, the Commission annulled the Lists of Voters in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao including Isabela City in the province of Basilan;lªvvph¡1.ñét

WHEREAS, in line with the Commission's mandate to preserve the integrity of the permanent list of voters and as an integral part of its modernization program;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Commission, by virtue of the powers vested in it by the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, the Omnibus Election Code and other related laws, RESOLVED to order the resumption of the filing of applications for registration of voters and transfer of registration records; and the processing of pending applications for registration records effective August 01, 2003 until September 30, 2003; and the meetings of the Election Registration Boards.

RESOLVED, moreover, to conduct general registration in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) from July 25 - 30, 2003.

Let the Election and Barangay Affairs Department and Education and Information Department implement this resolution.
