[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 6596, September 30, 1972 ]

AN ACT AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FORTY-ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY-NINE CONVERTING THE ILOILO NORMAL SCHOOL TO WEST VISAYAS STATE COLLEGE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. Section one of Republic Act Numbered Forty-one hundred eighty-nine is hereby amended to read as follows:

"Section 1. The present Iloilo Normal School located in Iloilo City, Philippines, is hereby converted into the West Visayas State College, offering general education and teacher education courses leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (A.B.), Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.E.), Master of Arts (M.A.) in Education and other courses of university level."

Section 2. Section two of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows:

"Section 2. The main purposes of said college are to give general cultural education and to provide professional and technical instruction in the field of education and in other fields."

Section 3. Subsection b of Section five of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows:

"b. To confer the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science in Education, Master of Arts in Education, and other degrees to successful candidates for graduation."1âшphi1

Section 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
