[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 6527, July 22, 1972 ]

AN ACT AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FORTY-SEVEN HUNDRED SIXTY-FOUR BY MERGING CERTAIN HOSPITALS IN TACLOBAN CITY AND CONSTITUTING THEM INTO A GENERAL HOSPITALS TO BE KNOWN AS SPEAKER DANIEL Z. ROMUALDEZ MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. The title of Republic Act Numbered Forty-seven hundred sixty-four is amended to read as follows:

"An Act providing for the establishment of a general hospital at Tacloban City, to be known as Speaker Daniel Z. Romualdez Memorial Hospital, and authorizing the appropriation of funds therefor.

Section 2. Section one of the same Act is amended to read as follows:

"Section 1. There shall be established under the direct supervision of the Director of Medical Services a general hospital at Tacloban City with a bed capacity of two hundred fifty beds to be known as Speaker Daniel Z. Romualdez Memorial Hospital.

"Upon the establishment of said memorial hospital, the City of Tacloban shall be exempted from the payment of the proportionate share required under Republic Act Numbered Nineteen Hundred thirty nine otherwise known as the Hospital Financing Act:  Provided, however, That the City of Tacloban and the Province of Leyte may extend financial aid to said memorial hospital,"

Section 3. Section two of the same Act is also amended to read as follows:

"Section 2. All personnel of the Speaker Daniel Z. Romualdez Memorial City Hospital, the Leyte Provincial Hospital and the Tacloban City Hospital shall be absorbed by the memorial hospital herein created in accordance with the provisions of civil service law, rules and regulations, and all assets and liabilities of the present aforesaid hospital shall be transferred to the newly created memorial hospital."1âшphi1

Section 4. In addition to the current appropriation of five hundred thousand pesos as authorized under Republic Act Numbered forty-seven hundred sixty-four, the sum of two million pesos is hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the conversion, operation and maintenance of said memorial hospital during the fiscal year nineteen hundred seventy-three.  Thereafter, the sum as may be necessary for the same purpose shall be included in the annual General appropriation Act.

Section 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
