PROCLAMATION No. 1244

REPEALING PROCLAMATION NO. 1864 (S. 2009), AND RESERVING LAND BANK BUILDING 1 ALONG SENATOR GIL PUYAT AVENUE, MAKATI CITY, FOR PUBLIC USE

WHEREAS, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo issued Proclamation No. 1864 (s. 2009), assigning Land Bank Building 1 along Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City to the Department of Foreign Affairs and designating it as the Common Premises of the United Nations System in the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the Land Bank of the Philippines transferred Land Bank Building 1 to the National Government as property dividends from its net income for CY 2009 pursuant to Republic Act No. 7656;

WHEREAS, the United Nations, upon inspection of Land Bank Building 1, was unable to accept the same due to the United Nations security and administrative requirements;

WHEREAS, considering that the United Nations did not accept Land Bank Building 1 and was unable to occupy the property, the purpose of Proclamation No. 1864 (s. 2009) can no longer be served; and

WHEREAS, the National Government and its agencies have a present need for office space and encounter difficulty in securing assets to address the same.

NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law,

I, BENIGNO S. AQUINO, III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, do hereby repeal Proclamation No. 1864 (s. 1957), and reserve Land Bank Building 1 for public use, specifically, as office premises of the National Government or its agencies for the exercise of official functions, and for such other services and facilities directly related thereto. Hereafter, the administration and management of Land Bank Building 1 is transferred from the Department of Foreign Affairs to the Office of the President, pending determination of the appropriate agency which shall occupy the same.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
