[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 186, October 15, 1965 ]

AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 156 DATED JANUARY 6, 1956, AND PROVIDING ADDITIONAL POWERS AND DUTIES TO THE PRESIDENTIAL ASSISTANT ON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.

In order to implement more effectively a coordinated community development program designed to improve the social, economic and political conditions of communities, integrate these communities into the life of the nation and enable them to contribute more fully to national progress, I, Diosdado Macapagal, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order:

Section 1. Sub-paragraph 3, Section 2, of Executive Order No. 156 issued on January 6, 1956, is hereby amended to read as follows:

“(3) Develop a grants-in-aid program and/or a rural development loan program to stimulate participation of barrio citizens in community development.”

Section 2. Section 6 of the aforementioned Executive Order No. 156 is hereby amended to read as follows:

Section 6. The Presidential Assistant on Community Development is hereby authorized to contract indebtedness from any person, public or private corporation, any agency of the Philippine Government or any international lending institution, and to execute for and in behalf of the Republic of the Philippines, deeds of conveyances or lease contracts covering such real or personal property as he may deem necessary in pursuance of his functions.”
